Video Tutorial: Transformer Insecticon Bombshell using LEGO Creator 31133: White Rabbit

So, I finally dropped a Bombshell.

PROLOGUE

Insecticons is a team of mechanical insect form the bad-guy faction Decepticons from G1  Transformers cartoon series back in the 1980s. The core team consisred of Shrapnel, Bombshell and Kickback respectively (below):

My favorite of the team is Shrapnel (top, left). I have memory of building Shrapnel's insect mode using my first LEGO set as a child (set 6656)

The past few years, I had made  Shrapnels and Kickbacks  using official LEGO sets (videos below), but yet to tackle Bombshell

So the time is ripe for me to complete the team.

ABOUT LEGO SET 31133

LEGO Creator 31133: White Rabbit was released in the year 2023 and I've made many Transformers using this set (recent one below)

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

It all started with the part below ,   that reminded me of Bombshell's chest.  So that's the epithany I needed!

As fate would have it.. I failed to use the part from my epithany  to build this creation (I tried, I tried!) , but instead.. chosen a much flatter, one-brick tall variant.

Initially the orange claws were part of the T-shaped horn, but I guess they're needed more in the legs department.

This was a pretty "eventless" build as I managed to hit 90% progress in a day ! What's left were proper legs!

I recently discovered the insect Bombshell was based on "Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle"

it's the little things that excite me while working on this project : like how I managed to build his horn that successfully integrated into his robot head and can be deployed at will.

TRANSFORM!

ROBOT MODE

ACTION POSES

Despite its simplicity and using less than 200 parts , his articulation is equal or even better than many of my Transformers built using bigger LEGO sets with 400 or more parts.

The presence of waist swivel really made huge differences in poseability!
