PROLOGUE

Photos and details of this project and many others  older  ones  used to be published in mocpages.com (now offline). Now I am slowly migrating them over to my blog here, one project at a time. 

ABOUT OPTIMUS PRIME

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots from G1 Transformers cartoon series. 

I have made so many version of Optimus Prime that I dedicated a page just to feature them (link below)

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project was initiated as an improvement to version 1 (below)  made few months prior in the year 2005. 

Note the aesthetic differences  between v1 above and v2 below

Roller, prime's wheeled drone  can actually tow Prime's trailer in the official toy version as well.

On retrospect... I'm not sure why I did the above. Kinda overengineered just to park the trailer securely.

WITH ROLLER

TRANSFORM!

In version 2, I decided to apply some creative license and make roller transform! Something not canon in the official G1 Transformer toy /cartoon from the 1980s.

No longer grounded, Roller's alternate mode is a winged creature that could fly, obviously

TRIVIA: I TRIED SELLING THIS ON EBAY!

I bought a ton of LEGO parts from bricklink just to make THREE  copies of this trailer , including Roller.  Then I attempted to sell them on ebay. 

There were some enquiries but eventually no transaction took place due to high shipping cost.

I ended up dismantling  the other two and sold the bulk of the gray parts to a local buyer.

TRAILER EXPANDED

Grapple arms was extremely ariculated

Roller parked on the platform.

Cockpit fits one minifigure nicely, as long as their headgear is not too tall !
