Bye bye Bumblebee, say hie to Bumblebeast!
PROLOGUE
LEGO set 10338: Bumblebee was released around middle of 2024, and the retail price was too much for me. However, I planned to buy the set when it goes on sale.
So, finally I snagged the set at 30% few months later, and the first custom Transformer I built using the set was Misfire (video below)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
It all started with me fiddling with the parts from the set above and try to build a tiger head. But as I went along.... it started to look more like a lion instead, thanks to the chunkier slopes I used, that reminded me so much of a lion's mane. So there.
There are transparent red round parts from the set for me to use for his lion eyes, but I still kept the initial design of a solid red piece as eyes instead, making it more cybernetic-looking.
I made last minute changes to the tail by making it longer by a stud, after discovering it was not long enough to touch the ground.
Since the hind legs are locked into position, he only has articulations on the front legs.
TRANSFORM!
Untab robot legs from the rear. Initial design was using studs to connect them, but then improved to using more secure c-clips instead.
Note the yellow hinge plates from beast thighs merged with lower legs to for robot legs.
Note how the lion feet align and connect perfectly on the robot feet. A curved part was applied on the robot feet too, so that the lion feet can be pried out easily using fingers when transforming back to beast mode.
Extend the heels for max stability
