Marvel Hulkbuster / Iron man armor mark 48 using LEGO Creator 31152: Space astronaut

Hmm..... I actually are having doubts about naming it Hulkbuster.

PROLOGUE

About a year ago (early 2024), when  LEGO set  31152: Space astronaut was released, I was so excited to build custom Transformers using the se   that I skipped building its main official Astronaut model. I did, however..... built the model B (Space Puppy).  The other Model B (space cruiser) was not appealing to me.. so I skipped that too.

Few days later, I dismantled the space puppy, and immediately stored the gold dome away. I knew that I won't be using this part at all for my future projects using the set.

And  about a week or so later, My first Transformer made using set 31152 was published! (video below)

And I spent the rest of the year building five more Transformers with the set.

ABOUT PROJECT HULKBUSTER

After building my 7th Transformer with set 31152 and published it last month, I decided to focus more on newly released sets for this year of 2025 . Then I noticed the gold dome piece that I had been ignoring, and as fate would have it...... Hulkbuster came to mind. Well, I guess building a non-Transformer would not distract me much from my focus towards newer sets. So.. off I go again!

As always.. I googled to find out more about the various versions of Hulkbusters out there. And found out my favorite one is the MK2 (top) . I was smitten by how the curved  chests angled around the dome, like a collar.

\
And I loved the pads on the arms of MK1 too (above).  The legs design on MK1 are more stable probably.

As we all know, Hulkbusters  were built to handle stronger and bigger threats like Hulk-gone-rogue. Since my rendition of Hulkbuster here is white, maybe I can call it Vision-buster as well. You know.... something built by Tony Stark to thwart the menace of  Vision-gone-rogue aka White Vision/Cataract

\

Set 31152 has generous number of printed "control panel" pieces. All of them are applied into the cockpit of this mech armor. This is no easy feat since the dome must close nicely with all the control panels in place.

My initial aim was to quickly get this project over with with basic detailings of the cockpit interior (just one control panel), but again... my perfectionist nature got the better of me. Improving the interior took me another 2 days!

I owned one Iron man minifig  but misplaced him! So Thor is a good substitute to helm the controls and to show  even with his pointy tall helmet.. he still fits inside snugly.

As always.. articulations are top notch!! And it has a waist swivel too!!

FLIGHT MODE

I can't stand leftover ball joints unused from the set,  so they ended up becoming thrusters on the back of this mech armor.
