Not a fan of this mode....!
That being said, this is the mode of Shockwave from Transformers Earthspark animated series. Shockwave is a prominent character from Transformers media franchise by the way. He's one of the rare bot from the series with only one optical sensor (read: eye).
I've been using LEGO set 31162 to build quite a few Transformers and this one is probably the weakest one so fast. Prior to this project, I made Optimus Primal using this set (video tutorial below)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This is yet another "crime" of opportunity of mine. Earthspark Shockwave has a very simple alternate mode and transformations. So it was chosen this time. Nuff said.
I tried to make all 4 limbs in the spider-tank mode to be similar to each other (rounded/semi-circular), and tbis affects the robot legs design.
Despite the boring spider-tank mode , I still managed to find job in building the turret, which requires a bit of sorcery to get right.
TRANSFORM!
With the cannons detached... he seemed to be doing an extreme yoga pose.
One noteworthy thing is how I managed to "flip" middle segment cannon mounting point to reveal his well sculpted abs.
ROBOT MODE
His iconic chest is devoid of any details but at least I nailed the shaping using just 2 wedge pieces!
