He is literally a jaw-dropping Transformer !
ABOUT DINOBOTS
Dinobot is a team of Transformers that turned into dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. They started off a neutral characters in G1 Transformers cartoon series but eventually becoming part of the Autobots, the good-guy faction.
MY LEGO DINOBOTS
I've built a handful of Dinobots using LEGO with many of them from official LEGO sets. Here are two of them:
ABOUT DINOBOT SLAG
Slag was the name of Dinobot that turned into a Triceratops . In modern days, he's officially being renamed as Slug by Hasbro in most of the toys featuring him.
About a week before I published this project, I published a Slag using LEGO set 31151 , too! (video below)

ABOUT PROJECT SLAG
After discovering that my LEGO Snarl (published last year) was extremely well received by the viewers , I have decided to start building more Dinobots this year.. And Slag is chosen to be next in line! So there!
I always start off my project by tackling the hardest engineering challenge first, which happens to be the head and his collar design. The rest of the body has pretty standard transformation style.
The ability for the tail to tilt to either side is actually accidental, a "side effect" from the ball joints I applied for transformation purpose.
Another challenge I faced was how to turn the front legs into arms, or specifically..... conjuring the robot hands out of them.
With gun mounted on top.
TEAM UP
With Slag made using LEGO set 31151
With Masterpiece Grimlock, leader of the Dinobots
With LEGO Snarl the Dinobot Stegosaurus
TRANSFORM!
Note how both halves of the tail is connected via 1-stud.
Unlike many offical toys of Slag where the single piece tail folded to the robot back, I must split them in half in my LEGO Slag to add more mass to his robot legs instead.
ROBOT MODE
Note how the knee joints are locked in via a hinged bar piece, when in standing upright pose. This is final hour enhancement to this creation after I discovered that he kept toppling over due to weak knee joints.
I've opted for a read head over black one because they looked better in photos , showing more details.
ACTION POSES
WITH GUN
TEAM UP
Green Slag (using set 31151) was started a month after the red one , and I never compared them side by side until photo session. Glad they're both are having similar height.
LEGO Snarl is about 10% taller than LEGO Slag here.
PARTING WORDS
So..... I've completed 2 dinobots (Slag and Snarl) with 3 left to go. And I planned to build one more before this year comes to and end. And it's a tight competition between Sludge and Swoop!!
Wish me luck!
