His name is legendary!
RECAP!
LEGO set 31151 was released last year in 2024 and I managed to acquire it from winning a competition in eurobricks early this year.
Since the official models in this set are Dinosaurs..... I immediately get to work by building my first Dinosaur Transformer using it... aka Sweop from team Dinobots. (video tutorial below)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Triceratops is one of the official model from set 31151, so It's logical that I build a Dinobot with this mode using it too , aka Slag. Slag, alongside with his other Dinobot team members.... are characters from G1 Transformers cartoon series.
Back in the 1980s, there wasn't any issue using the term "Slag". But at the turn of the century where Hasbro decided to release newer versions of Slag, they were forced to rename him as Slug instead ... since "Slag" has become somewhat offensive .
The partially exposed studs on his jaw does make him look snarky, and at certain angles, reminded of me of one particular Simpsons character. Ha-ha!
I am very lucky to be able to build a uniquely colored head with just a handful of tan parts from this set.
Weapon mounted on his back is a last minute built.
TRANSFORM!
I quickly ran out of hinges to build his kibble wing panels. Luckily I am able to delegate the mass of the dino body to the legs instead.
ROBOT MODE
Super glad to be able to sculpt his chest to shape like his G1 counterpart, curvy and rounded at the flanks. Initially they were mostly in green. In the final hours... I decided to apply some tan at the center to mimic his dino jaw turned chestplate .
MORE ACTION POSES
WITH GUN
Building the gun was harder than I thought since my initial idea was a single , long barreled gun to connect to the palm of his hand. Finally it ended up latching on to his hand , with shorter barrels
With Masterpiece Grimlock, leader of the Dinobots!
With Badassatron Bee built using set 10338
