LEGO set 31162 was released this year, and prior to this project, the following Transformer was made using this set (tutorial below)
ABOUT PROJECT SHRAPNEL
This project paid homage to an official G1 Transformer named Shrapnel from team Insecticons. He turned into a mechanical Stag beetle. Shrapnel, apparently... is my favorite member of all the 3 G1 Insecticons as well. (below):
I remembered building Shrapnel (his insect mode actually) with the first LEGO I ever owned (set 6656 tow truck!) as a child.
Those tiny lil feet are replicated pretty well I must say!
TRANSFORM!
ROBOT MODE
The chest design is spot on I must say !
I tried to build a gun for him to hold but given up after about 30 minutes or so coz the remaining parts aren't suitable, and I'm not willing or redesign this creation either.
ACTION POSES
The iconic pincers/stinger/mandibles(?) can be folded to his back for a neater look.
