Yes....I was that desperate!!!
PROLOGUE
When LEGO set 60430: Interstellar Spaceship was released last year, I immediately bought it in hope to build a Transformer using the set, as always.
However, I discovered that it was an uphill battle. So I resorted to pairing this set up with another set to build a Transformer (video tutorial below) . Needing "reinforcements" to complete this mission... let's just say this LEGO set is a half-trick-pony.
Not long after...... the creation above was dismantled, and LEGO set 60430 was packed aside at one corner of my room... never to be touched again.
BACK TO THE PRESENT
Recently, I am on a roll, with most of newer LEGO sets being tied up in various projects and work-in- progress. I actually have many older sets (released on 2023 or earlier) that I can start new projects with , bit I was not really keen on doing so since they're on their way to obsolesence , except the Mighty Dinosaur set that was released prior to 2020.
Out of desperation..... I took out set 60430 once more and with a fresh new mindset/expectations.... a new journey began.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Most of the time... my LEGO Transformers built usually have bipedal robot mode with humanoid proportions with articulations to boot. I knew this is not possible with the limited ball joints and hinges provided by set 60430. So I shifted my design paradigm a bit .
Initially I wasn't too keen on chunky looking nosecone....
... and it grew on me during the photoshoot session where I found out overall, this spaceship looks darn good from many angles, especially the side profile.
I somewhat lost the original figure (a female minifig astronaut), so forced to used a spaceman from another set to pilot this craft.
TRANSFORM!
DINO MODE
VIDEO TUTORIAL
The following video contains building tutorial for this creation EXCEPT the dinosaur head. The head is fairly easy to build if you're a seasoned fan of my channels , so please consider this as a challenge!
Alternatively, I am offering complete building instructions (including dino head) for sale , too (link below)
