PROLOGUE

Photos and details of this project and many others  older  ones  used to be published in mocpages.com (now offline). Now I am slowly migrating them over to my blog here, one project at a time.

ABOUT OPTIMUS PRIME

Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots from G1 Transformers cartoon series.

I have made so many version of Optimus Prime that I dedicated a page just to feature them (link below)

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project was initiated as an improvement to version 1 (below)  made few months prior in the year 2005.

Note the aesthetic differences  between v1 above and v2 below

Roller, prime's wheeled drone  can actually tow Prime's trailer in the official toy version as well.

On retrospect... I'm not sure why I did the above. Kinda overengineered just to park the trailer securely.

WITH ROLLER

TRANSFORM!

In version 2, I decided to apply some creative license and make roller transform! Something not canon in the official G1 Transformer toy /cartoon from the 1980s.

No longer grounded, Roller's alternate mode is a winged creature that could fly, obviously

TRIVIA: I TRIED SELLING THIS ON EBAY!

I bought a ton of LEGO parts from bricklink just to make THREE  copies of this trailer , including Roller.  Then I attempted to sell them on ebay.

There were some enquiries but eventually no transaction took place due to high shipping cost.

I ended up dismantling  the other two and sold the bulk of the gray parts to a local buyer.

TRAILER EXPANDED

Grapple arms was extremely ariculated

Roller parked on the platform.

Cockpit fits one minifigure nicely, as long as their headgear is not too tall !

The arrow is pointing at connection points for both halves of the crane. You will notice a blue technic pin on one half that connects to a technic hole on another half.

OK . Assuming you're done with the above (which  I insist you do).... then let's proceed with the final instalment of LEGO Ultra Magnus.

A Lil' Recap

This MOC is inspired by Ultra Magnus, from G1 Transformers cartoon series. The original toy of UM is literally a brick ..consisting of a white Optimus Prime combined with the armor transformed from the car carrier trailer he towed.

LEGO Ultra Magnus: Part 2.5 of 3 (Transformation photos and videos)

Firstly, I didn't plan for this (post) earlier. But after finding out the photos I'm planning to publish soon (plus the videos I've shot), UM transformation sequence merits its own post entry. I guess by dedicating one just for the transformation, I can avoid causing photo fatique later when post number #3 is published on UM robot mode.

And oh yes, if you're new here. Please visit part 1 and part 2 of Ultra Magnus below:

• Part 1:  Car carrier mode
• Part 2; Cab and some group shots MOCs

Video #1: Ultra Magnus

If you haven't read part 1 yet, click here to do so.  Otherwise..... enjoy!

LEGO Ultra Magnus: Part 1 of 3 (vehicle mode)

Ultra  Magnus  is a G1 Transformers character whose toy shared  the same cab mould as G1 Optimus. So the original toy version transformed into a white colored Prime robot, with his car carrier forming an exo-skeleton/armor for him... increasing his size tremendously.

I am splitting this MOC photos to be published in few parts. This first and second part will focus solely on the vehicle modes, because of the sheer number of photos I wish to share with all you guys!

Let's go!

LEGO Ultra Magnus: A retrospective reminiscent

While setting up my current Ultra Magnus MOC for photoshoot, I've just found out my SD cards were totally unusable (yes, all 3 of them... one being a microSD). So I'm stuck with the limited internal storage in my digicam to be utilised.  Since I only managed to snap just half a dozen photos  so far, I'd guess why not I prepare this article to let you guys know about my past UM creations.
