I tried to be lazy on this project, but my perfectionism shone through once again!
PROLOGUE
Dinobots using the set. Dinobots are a bunch of Transformers that turned into prehistoric creatures and they are very popular with the fans! Sludge is one of them, and he turns into a brontosaurus.
LEGO set 31161 was released last year and I found myself building more and more Dinobots using the set alone. Prior to project Sludge, I made Snarl.. his fellow peers that turns into a stegosaurus (below)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Choosing the right LEGO set to build Sludge was not easy, since his dino head requires a few more hinges to work, which is a commodity in even big LEGO sets. However.... set 31161 seems like fitting the criteria for me to take a gamble on this.
I started the ball rolling by modifying my LEGO Snarl using the same set. I discovered that the leg transformation for Snarl can be retained for Sludge simply by removing Snarl spikes.
Initially I tried to keep Snarl's legs as well for my Sludge.... but eventually I decided to redesign them

ROBOT MODE
I was so lazy until I kept Snarl's head until the final hours of this project and decided to design a new head for this Sludge , so that his head can tuck him deeper into the dino body.
There are many ways his dino head can be folded into his robot's back.
