The robot formerly known as B-127.
PROLOGUE
I usually don't buy expensive licensed LEGO sets but Official LEGO Bumblebee (set 10338) was just too hard to resist at 30% off last year! So it was bought and naturally my primary aim is to use the set to build many, many Transformers using the set.
One of my earlier thoughts upon buying this set was building Transformers; One Bumblebee , known as Badassatron in the said movie. However..... such a project would demand alot of mental work from me. So I put my thoughts aside. Instead, I started building other types of Transformers using this Bumblebee set to warm myself up, with each successive ones being more challenging !
Before this project, I've used the set to build Metroplex (video below)

ABOUT PROJECT BADASSATRON
This is my 4th Transformer made using LEGO set 10338. Suprisingly, my earlier presumptions about its complexity was wrong... it's not as hard as I thought it would be! The challenge level in making this guy is about the same as making Metroplex.
The highlites of this project was sculpting the front part of the vehicle. Those curves are pretty challenging to achieve , and I'm very proud to be able to replicate the dark grill/vents at the bottom of the vehicle mode too!
The not so fun part was tackling the back half of the vehicle , where it will become robot legs. Engineering trumps aesthetics at the back end, so it's pretty hard to get the same look as the actual Bee vehicle .
My perfectionist nature kicked in about a day before I decided to wrap this project up.... I modified the sharp vehicle rear by a stud longer and add in transparent slopes as rear lights (something not found in the official toy of this Bee)
The gun as always.... was built at the very end of this project.
TRANSFORM!
The rear wheels are folded into and help to secure the knee joints .
And before standing him up, you can optionally fold the yellow windshield sides to rest on the butt , which is my preferred configuration.
ROBOT MODE
Note the rounded bump on his crotch. The part used is a 1x4 hinged plate and I was forced to use this part because I ran out of 2x2 plates !
If you dislike the windshield kibble on his butt, you are free to fold them back up again.
I usually used ball joints for the shoulders but this set is lacking them in adequate numbers. This workaround opened up many future vehicle mode Transformers using similar techniques using this set.
WITH GUN
The gun design allowed it only to be held using the right arm. If you preferred a left-handed Bee , simply detach and rotate the handle of the gun 180 degrees!

With my Custom LEGO G1 Bumblebee!
With (clockwise): Masterpiece Grimlock, SS86 Blurr, Masterpiece Wheeljack, Mechanic studio Astrotrain
BADASSATRON MODE
In Transformers; One movie, Bee's most badass moment is when he spawned those energon blades from his arms and started to go "nuts" with them.
I actually took a bunch of photos of him with his blades in blue background , but they did not do justice to him! So I retook a new batch using brown background instead, making the blades more visible.
Yes...... ankle tilts! A feature that are gaining importance in official TF toys.
