This is a pivotal moment indeed!
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
It's been quite a while since I built a Transformer with bird-like mode, where the robot legs formed the wings, like this one below for example:
While fiddling with LEGO 31162: Cute Bunny, I noticed it has many quarter round pieces that would make decent wing patterns side by side. I guess that is the inspiration I needed !
I was about 90% done with a bird Transformer with the set mentioned above, then another epithany struck me again. I'm not a fan of Pokemon anime series, but I remembered there's a prominent Pokemon that looks like what I was building, especially the creature head! Thanks to recently announced official LEGO Pokemon sets....... I discovered that character is Charizard...!!!
I immediately pivoted my project bird Transformer into project Charizard Transformer. The 2 main changes in design are "just" adding 2 dino arms and also modifying the initial bird tail-feather to becoma a fiery flame-like design.
CHARIZARD MODE
I must say this is where reverse Murphy's Law hit me. There are a few yet adequate orange parts from set 31162 for me to use to build Charizard's flame tail!
