Video Tutorial: Transformer Jet Plane (Needlenose) using LEGO City 60428 + Creator 31134

This was meant to be published next month but I expedited it to this month.

PROLOGUE

This year saw many LEGO themes carrying the "Space" subtheme and for the first time ever, I purchased a LEGO City (Space) set to build a Transformer (set 60428, below)

The set above is very suitable as a seed set for me to combine with other sets to build even more Transformers from. This year, I plan to choose to pair the set above with another set from the same year and preferably from the same theme (City) as well, for my Transformers builds.

Then I was reminded of a small Creator space shuttle set I purchased last year, which I have made a Transformer from (below)

Both the sets above are suffering from "one-trick-pony" problem, where I am able to produce just one Transformer using them individually.   So this project was started by merging both sets , to unlock hopefully more mileage from them.

And oh yes.... recently I managed to snag one 2024 City spaceship set 80430 , and I'm itching to unbox it , This means I must put this project to a closure and move on to combine these 2 LEGO City (Space) sets  in hand, for upcoming project.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project was started few months ago, and inspired by Needlenose, a G1 Transformers cartoon character with similar  alternate mode and transformation style.

I really loved how the jet mode turned out!!

The reason why this project was left idling for months is because that it's made from 2 sets rather than 1 set. So  I fear it might not be as popular to my youtube viewers.

The front landing gears was a last minute addition after discovering the plane mode tilted down during photoshoot.

Actually I was not eager in implementing the front landing gears .

Overall, this is a rare occasion where I am totally pleased with the alternate mode of my LEGO Transformers using official sets. The shaping, color scheme...everything!

TRANSFORM!

ROBOT MODE

I just remembered another reason for delaying this project was not satisfied with the initial look of the robot chest .

Suprised to have him still able to stand upright with such a huge kibble on his back!

The last minute implementation of jet landing gears ended up jutting out on his back, which is a sight for sore eyes. Lucky his stability is not affected though.
