Metroplex heed the call of LEGO builders!
ABOUT LEGO SET 31152
LEGO set 31152: Space Astronaut was released this year (2024), and it has been one of my favorite sets to build Transformers from. Prior to this project, this set was used to build Transformers:One Megatron!
ABOUT METROPLEX
Metroplex is a character from G1 Transformers cartoon series. He turns into a base and a mobile battle station and is one of the biggest character from that cartoon.
Almost 10 years ago (that's 2015!) .. I built a LEGO Metroplex (vid below)
And in recent years... I also made another Metroplex using LEGO set 31115: Space mining mech (tutorial below!)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Well, set 31152 contains primarily white parts and respectable amount of black parts. So that's a good enough reason for me to start project Metroplex using it!
The two guns above were the last components to be built.

Transformation to bot mode is pretty easy, so photos won't be necessary.
At the beginning of this project, I tackled what I presumed to be the hardest challenge: building the knee joints! Yes.... these knee joints must be articulated enough in robot mode, and yet allowed them to be bent to form base mode too.
Minutes before photoshoot took place.. I shifted the orientation of the black half-circle on his waist 180 degrees coz it looked much better this way.... I think!
Note that the base platform does not completely fold 180 degrees when forming his feet. They\re slightly angled after being pegged onto the legs. And such configuration improved stability as well.
