Transformer Space Cruiser /Misfire using LEGO 10338: Bumblebee

Bees are meant to fly!

ABOUT LEGO BUMBLEBEE

A month or so before LEGO 10338 Bumblebee was released (around middle of 2024), I started to build a custom LEGO Bumblebee (video below)

Well, I actually planned to buy the official LEGO Bumblebee if the price is right. And finally, after months of waiting.. I snagged one at 30% discount!!  (well, 20% actually since I need to invest about 10% of the price  to drive to the store and picked it up)  And I even made a video comparing both the official and my custom Bee too! (vid below)

As always, I have a hunch the official LEGO Bee will be very very useful for me in building alternate Transformers with it!

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project was inspired by Misfire, a G1 Transformer that turns into one of my favorite space cruiser.  By the way, I built Misfire many years ago (video below)

Note how I exaggerate the front of the cruiser mode with longer fins compared to the original Misfire.

The windshield with technic pieces as frames is one of my favorite phase of the design process.  There is no other alternative!

The wings design were tedious! I try to build a non-yellow wings but eventually some yellow must be applied due to certain needed parts being in such color.

Call me silly but at this point, I felt a strong Pikachu vibe  here!

TRANSFORM!

To prevent the wings from sagging, first I have each wing be tabbed to the vehicle body via a single stud each (red circle, lower) . Additionally, an extra spur on each side of the vehicle must be spawned to hold the wings upright (red circle, upper).

Red circle above is where both wings are connected together to secure them in bot mode.

Red circle above is where the formed legs are tabbed to the knees.

ROBOT MODE

The final changes prior to wrapping up this project was redesigning his  initially plain yellow "pants".

Extended heels for stability especially in action poses.

MORE ACTION POSES

The backheels can be adjusted to ensure stability in many action poses below.
