This is my second Transformer built using parts from Ninjago 71750, and a jet plane/space cruiser mode is a definite MUST! Why?
.....that's because the set comes with a windshield! And oh yes..do check out my first Transformer from the same set (video below)

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
While building my first TF with set 71750 early this year , I almost pivoted towards a jet mode instead of a submarine. Since I was almost completed with the latter, I put the jet mode idea aside till months later. So this project here was started in the middle of the year , if my memory serves me well!
This creation was 95% completed within days ! And as usual...I encountered a stumbling block : I was left with minimal parts to build the robot head!
So it was left untouched for months , headless.. till recently.
A bit of tweaking here and there, freeing up a few parts to be used to finalize the head.
My favorite part of the design process is most definitely the nosecone, especially it's orientation in robot mode.
I made a boo-boo here! Just discovered it can seat a minifig pilot BUT the windshield cannot be closed!!
You might wonder, why it's a jet plane but not a space cruiser? Well.... since this comes from a Ninjago set.. and the characters there have yet to reach for the stars /left earth's orbit in their adventures...so this vehicle here is "merely" a jet plane to be used by Lloyd to fly around the earth.
TRANSFORM!
In my first submarine Transformer with this set many months back, the robot mode had 3 fingers of varying shapes . For this latest one here however... I deliberately omitted one of the digit. This is because the connection of such part/ digit was pretty weak and they tend to loosen and fell off the hands.
MORE POSES
Despite having pretty good articulations, he's literally weak on the knees...since they're powered by small mixel balljoints.

I just want to tell you that one arc in season three in Ninjago involved the Ninja going into space to find the golden weapons. Great build as well, reminds me of Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm for some reason
ReplyDeletethanks ! I should've known better.. (but too lazy to research) knowing that the show spanned so many seasons.... most of the location tropes (land, air, sea, undersea, space!) might have been covered.
