LEGO Transformer Triple Changer Seaplane Excavator aka "SkyTrax" Part 2

If you had visited Part 1 of this LEGO creation of mine earlier, you might noticed that I have not named him yet. Well he finally has a name now!

In a nutshell, SkyTrax transforms into both an excavator and also a seaplane. If you're new here, Visit Part 1 first to get started and read about how this project came to being , and view photos of his vehicle modes from various angles.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE

Fold the pontoons....

..to become....

... robot legs.

Now stand him up

Fold the plane wings to the side

Raise windshields and roofs up...

...and extend them out to form robot arms. Fold the shovel inwards as well.

Tab  folded wings to the body (yellow arrow)

Rotate elbow joints

Unlatch black panel to release waist joint. Note the rotating yellow midsection....

.... revealing the orange abs. Done!

ROBOT MODE PHOTOS

There's only one frictional hinge on each feet. That's pretty strong enough compared to using 2 hinge plates.

The wide back heels ensure stability of this creation in robot mode in various poses, despite the top heaviness.

Back profile showed a very big kibble with compacted shovel sandwiched between the folded wings. I am really pleased with the how the propeller ended up nicely on his butt.

I was forced to apply one slimmer digit/finger on each hands, so I can  tuck them inside the plane cockpit snugly.

ACTION POSES

My pet peeve is inability to fold away the windshield panels neatly on the forearms, the same predicament faced by one of my older LEGO creation as well.

He's an experienced hand-to-hand combatant as well.

ATTACK MODE

Smokestacks-turned-cannons ready to take out enemies in the sky and on the ground.

MAY I BORROW YOUR GUN?

I didn't specifically made a gun for him, Click here to find out who he borrowed the gun from.

Looks like you have reached my favorite photos from the whole bunch!

MISCELLANEOUS SHOTS

He learned to make the best of the situation if he's stuck in mid-transformation.

Don't ostracize me for this lame ostrich mode!

As usual... thank you for viewing my blog to the very end. Hope you enjoy my writeups and photos here. If you would like to see more of my other triple changer LEGO Transformers, click here.
